Israeli Troops Carry Out Raids in Syria’s Quneitra Region
According to a TV channel, Israeli troops moved into the village of Al-Asbah in the southern countryside of Quneitra using six military vehicles. The forces are said to have conducted searches inside homes and caused panic among civilians.
The same outlet reported earlier in the day that Israeli forces had also resumed land-clearing and expansion activities in parts of the province, while simultaneously imposing movement restrictions on residents.
Syrian authorities have not issued any official response regarding the reported incidents or what have been described as violations of sovereignty.
Such incursions into southern Syria have reportedly become frequent in recent months, often involving house raids, checkpoint installations, and detentions of civilians, including children and shepherds.
Following the collapse of former Syrian President Bashar Assad’s government on December 8, 2024, Israel announced that it considered the 1974 Disengagement Agreement no longer in effect and moved to take control of the buffer zone along the border area.
