UN Urges Restraint as Houthi Attacks Target Saudi Arabia
"We remain deeply concerned about the ongoing military escalation in and around Yemen, including Houthi offensives in Taiz, Lahij, and Marib, with grave consequences for civilians in Yemen and across the region," UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told reporters.
The UN said the cross-border attacks have affected civilian locations and key energy facilities in Saudi Arabia. It called on all sides to "exercise restraint and prevent any further escalation."
The latest developments come as recent Houthi attacks across the border have resulted in civilian injuries in southern parts of Saudi Arabia. At the same time, renewed hostilities have affected maritime shipping routes and contributed to further civilian displacement inside Yemen.
